Handel and Haydn Society to Honor the Diversity of its Community with EVERY VOICE

Members of the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra and Chorus will lift their voices to celebrate the diverse communities that make up the city of Boston at the Every Voice concert for peace and justice. Presented in partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry and Union United Methodist Church, the free performances will take place at the First Church in Roxbury at 3pm on Saturday, November 2 and at the Union United Methodist Church in the South End at 3pm on Sunday, November 3.

“Music has always had the ability to shine a light on the issues of our times, allowing us to celebrate the positives and reflect on the challenges,” said David Snead, President and CEO of the Handel and Haydn Society. “We are thrilled to partner with the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry and Union United Methodist Church, to celebrate the voices of the Jewish and Black communities of Boston, in a moving and joyous performance designed to showcase the healing and unifying power of music.”

Every Voice will feature works created by Black and Jewish musicians, including compositions by Harry T Burleigh, an African American composer, arranger, and baritone soloist; Joseph Bolougne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a champion fencer, classical composer, virtuoso violinist, and conductor of the leading symphony orchestra in Paris who was the son of a wealthy married planter and an African slave; Abraham Caceres, a Portuguese-Dutch Jewish composer of the late Baroque period; Giacobbe Cervetto, and Anglo-Italian Baroque musician of Jewish descent and his son, James Cervetto; Bobby McFerrin, a Grammy Award-winning American jazz vocalist and composer; Allan Naplan, composer and executive director of the Arizona MusicFest; Zanaida Robles, conductor, composer, educator, vocalist, and fierce advocate for diversity and inclusion in music education and performance; Salamone Rossi, an Italian/Jewish composer of the late Renaissance/early Baroque period; Ignatius Sancho, a British composer of African descent; and Jonathan Woody, whose new work Nigra Sum Sed Formosa had its world premiere by the Handel and Haydn Society with Castle of Our Skins in April 2019.

NASHVILLE, TN — The Colour of Music Festival announces the Nashville, TN début of Colour of Music Festival ‘Petit’ November 6-9, 2019 at multiple noted venues throughout downtown Nashville, a five-day festival featuring black classical artists and scholars from France, Britain, Colombia, the Caribbean, and the United States performing organ, piano, vocal, chamber and orchestral works showcasing the impact and historical significance of black classical composers and performers on American and world culture.

Since 2013, the Colour of Music Festival has brought classically trained black musicians together to offer the public an opportunity to experience the talent of prodigiously gifted classical principals, composers, and performers of African descent share their musical talents, knowledge, and inspiration.

Few classical music enthusiasts are aware of the tremendous contributions of Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges, an African-French composer, and contemporary of Mozart, whose opera and classical masterpieces equaled or far exceeded those of his 18th century contemporaries. Though highly recognized overseas, his contributions have gathered little notice in the U.S. Today thousands of tremendously talented black classical principals, composers, and performers have few opportunities to grace concert stages of major American orchestras.

Maestro Chelsea Tipton, II will serve as guest conductor to lead the Masterwork performance and Anyango Yarbo-Davenport will lead an all-female Colour of Music Festival Virtuosi.

Allegany County firefighters, EMS, say goodbye to fallen volunteer Edward Wycoff, Jr. of Bolivar

Sunday’s this time of year are dedicated to football. However, scores of First Responders spent this afternoon at the JW Embser Funeral Home in Wellsville, as volunteers from several agencies said farewell to 62-year-old Edward H. Wycoff, Jr. of Bolivar. The life member of the Bolivar fire department died September 23rd. Wycoff also served with the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Friends and colleagues lined the street and funeral home to say, one last goodbye. Wycoff also worked for the Village of Wellsville for a number of years. Westons Mills from Cattaraugus County understood the pain and sent fire and EMS apparatus to Bolivar to cover during the funeral. They were also pressed into service with emergency calls. Nadiya S. Witoshynsky, 95, of Wellsville, NY, formerly of Wingdale, died Saturday, September 28, 2019 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. Born Nov 4, 1923, in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of Stephen and Cathrine Kost Yackymetz. On July 17, 1959, she married Michael Witoshynsky, who predeceased her on September 22, 1995. She was employed at Keyfood Supermarket in Queens, NY. Nadiya was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post #9257 in Patterson, NY. Surviving are: a son, Eric and his wife Annette Witoshynsky of Coudersport, PA; two grandsons, Sean his wife, Chelsea Witoshynsky of Patterson and Brian Witoshynsky of Hampton Roads, VA; a brother, Leon his wife Helen of Clark, NJ; nieces, Kim, Karen, and Kristine along with grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Zoria Yackymetz. Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville. Trump Is Fundamentally Changing America for the Good

What a run President Trump is on. My last column outlined the many great achievements by Trump in the areas of the economy, jobs, prosperity, poverty, and border security. Trump is on the greatest winning streak of his presidency.

First, the U.S. Supreme Court gave President Trump perhaps his biggest victory yet, by allowing Trump’s asylum restrictions to take effect. Trump just changed the entire dynamics of illegal immigration and border security. The days of yelling “asylum” and being instantly let into America are over. Now illegal aliens must wait in Mexico, and if they lose their court hearing, they will never step foot in the USA.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Coupled with the July Supreme Court ruling backing Trump’s bold move to declare a National Security Emergency and divert billions of dollars in Pentagon funding to building of the wall, Trump is finally making good on his promise to secure our Southern Border.

The Trump administration just announced those funds will be used to build 450 to 500 miles of wall along the Mexican border by the end of 2020. I am honored to have played a key role in securing America’s border.

It has taken 2 ½ years, but Trump is making good on his pledge to secure the border, build the wall, and keep illegal aliens out of our country. It’s been a brutal battle. Democrats have obstructed Trump every step of the way. The victory was achieved inch by inch. But it’s clear now, Trump is winning the war.

Then there’s the news out of Iran on Friday. Because of Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, Iran’s economy, government, and pension funds are on the verge of total collapse.

They can no longer afford to wage war with Israel. They can’t even afford the materials to build nuclear bombs and threaten the world. Trump has turned Iran into a “paper Tiger.”

I want you to dream with me for a moment. Just imagine what Trump will achieve if he has almost six more years to relentlessly stamp America with his conservative, pro-business, America First agenda.

It was Obama’s dream. But ironically, it’s Trump who will fundamentally change America.

Adam Schiff has come under intense pressure after he fabricated some quotes by Trump in Congress the other day.

Trump immediately called for his resignation and an investigation to be launched into Adam.
Now comes even more bad news for the hapless and out of his depth Schiff – Rep. Andy Biggs just introduced a motion to condemn and to censure Adam Schiff for his actions.
