Buhari’s wife canvasses peaceful elections in Rivers
PORT HARCOURT —NIGERIA’S First Lady, Aisha Buhari, yesterday urged electorate in the South South to embrace peaceful conduct and shun fighting in coming 2019 elections.
Aisha, represented by Dalapo Osibanjo, wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, gave the caution in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during a rally by APC’s Women and Youths Presidential Campaign team for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.
She said, “On election days, Nigerians should happily vote for candidates of APC. After voting, wait and ensure that your votes count. President Buhari will take Nigeria to the next level.”
Coordinator of APC’s Women and Youths Presidential Campaign Team in the South South, Dame Judith Amaechi, said that the region’s votes would go to Buhari.
Governorship candidate of APC in Rivers, Tonye Cole, his running mate, Chief Victor Giadom, Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr. Dakuku Peterside and Ibim Semenitari; former managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, also graced the occasion.
We Only Seek A Second Term, Not Third, Like Some People —Buhari
In a veiled attack on former president Olusegun Obasanjo, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, said that he is only seeking a second term in office and not a third term as did “some people.”
Speaking with Ondo State Council of Obas in Akure, he said, “We have just finished one term and are seeking a second one. After that, the constitution doesn’t permit any more.”
He added, “There are some who tried looking for more but they did not succeed. We should learn from their mistakes.”
His statement was revealed by Tolu Ogunlesi, who oversees digital communications in the presidency.
He made Buhari’s statement known on his verified Twitter handle.

Obasanjo Is Worse Than Abacha, Says Oshiomhole
Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo is a worse dictator than Sani Abacha, ex-military head of state.
Oshiomhole said this in reaction to the comment of Obasanjo that President Muhammadu Buhari is returning the country to the era of Abacha when state institutions were used to fight perceived enemies of the government.
“Today, another Abacha Era is here. The security institutions are being misused to fight all critics and opponents of Buhari and to derail our fledgling democracy,” Obasanjo had said in reaction to the suspension of Walter Onnoghen, former chief justice of Nigeria.
But when he featured on a Channels Television programme, Oshiomhole disagreed that the country is drifting into a dictatorial state.
“Let’s face it, Obasanjo can’t look me in the eyes and say those things. He is a worse dictator, he was worse than Abacha,” Oshiomhole said.
“How many people disappeared under Abacha’s watch compared to the number of Nigerians that disappeared under Obasanjo’s watch including his own attorney general who didn’t get justice. He is not a fit and proper person.
“Don’t talk about Obasanjo, let’s face it. The problem I have is that in Nigeria, Obasanjo seems to have his cake and have it. He cannot talk about morality. Nigeria’s democracy cannot be stable if the rules are only made for the poor.”

I Will Secure Nigeria – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to secure the country for the future.
Buhari stated this at the All Progressives Party (APC)presidential campaign rally on Tuesday in Akure.
The president, who asked the electorate for votes for his re-election, noted that if he re-elected, he would get rid of corruption in the country.
According to him, those found culpable in corrupt acts would be prosecuted.
He added that his 2015 campaign promises of revamping economy, security and fighting corruption had been fulfilled.
“Boko haram is no longer occupying those places it was in control of before our administration came in in 2015, though they are now using young girls to attack soft targets.
“But we are reassuring you that we will revamp our economy and we are making fertiliser available to farmers in all Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the country.
“Those found culpable of corruption will be prosecuted. We will secure the country and rid it of corruption,”he said.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said the present administration had taken youths engagement seriously, hence the introduction of NPower initiative.
Osinbajo added that the initiative had engaged 500,000 youths, promising that the number would be increased to 1.5 million youths.
The vice president stated that the planned railway line to Akure would create job for different strata of people.
According to him, more power distribution companies will be engaged to supply power and that that the Federal Government is partnering with some solar power suppliers to provide electricity to some parts of the state.
Osinbajo recalled the federal government had partnered with Brazil to supply farm equipment that would make farming attractive to youth.
He warned electorate not to vote for another party’s candidate that would take the country back to era of corruption, saying “it was corruption that took us back”.
Comrade Adams Oshiomohle, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Party (APC),said the difference was clear between Buhari and other candidates.
Oshiomole noted that Buhari’s policy was to liberate children of the poor and ensure that Nigerian workers got the best, hence the reason for bailout funds to all states.
According to him, the APC led government is ensuring that Nigerians must produce what they eat and stop exporting job to Europe.
Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, assured the president of landslide victory come Feb. 16 poll.
Akeredolu said that if the party could win in 2015 general election when it was in opposition, it would handsomely win in the coming election.

Buhari Campaigns In Ekiti, Says Those With Corruption Cases Mustn’t Escape
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday took his campaign to Ekiti State, restating his commitment to fighting corruption.
Mr Buhari who was greeted by a huge crowd at the State Pavillion, Ado Ekiti, said fighting corruption in Nigeria is not an easy task.
He, however, vowed never to be dissuaded in the task of ridding the nation of corruption in line with the promise he made in 2015. At the rally were the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; Governors
Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) and Ibikule Amosun (Ogun); former All Progressives
Congress (APC) Interim National Chairman, Bisi Akande, and Olusola Oke, among others.
Some members of the state House of Assembly and chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also used the campaign rally to decamp to the APC.
The lawmakers were led by the Speaker, Ebenezer Alagbada. They include Cecelia Dada representing Ilejemeje constituency and Olanrewaju Olayanju from Emure constituency.
According to the president, he is conscious of the promises he made four years ago, particularly the fight against corruption, insecurity and economic diversification.
“We are fighting corruption but it has not been easy. But we told the security agencies to keep a tab on those on our watch list and ensure that no stone is left unturned in ensuring that those who have cases to answer doe not escape justice,” he said.
“As part of our promises, we are building roads, rail lines and fighting corruption. We introduced Treasury Single Account and increased power supply, so Nigerians can have their own businesses.
“I want to be grateful to Ekiti voters because the two times I came here, I achieved successes. I came here in 2014 and I also came here to campaign for Fayemi, he won the governorship election, so I thank you.”
In an earlier meeting with traditional rulers in Ekiti, Mr Buhari urged them to support his reelection bid and his government for sustainable peace in Ekiti State and beyond.
He said he had not betrayed the country on the promises he made in 2015 to secure the nation, fight corruption and diversify the economy and make Nigeria self-sustaining through local production.
Mr Osinbajo, who addressed the crown in Yoruba, said $383 billion was received as proceeds from oil between 2010 and 2014 under Goodluck Jonathan, but nothing was achieved with it.
“If that money had been utilised judiciously, all the roads, rail lines and employment we are creating would have long been in place for Nigerians,” he said.
“Buhari built three refineries as Minister of Petroleum under military era. No government has ever added one, not even during the 16 years of PDP
“Don’t let them deceive you, vote for a president you can trust, that is President Buhari.”
Mr Osinbajo added that youth employment is paramount to Buhari’s government, saying this was why the administration brought about N-power scheme to empower young graduates.
Also speaking, the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, said it would be a big mistake if Nigerians returned the PDP’s presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku, in the February 16 polls.
“How many times did Obasanjo say Atiku stole PTDF’s money?
The answer he always gave was that his former boss too stole money. Is this the kind of person you want to vote for?” Mr Oshiomhole said.
