Link

OPINION: What does Ms Jean Ang Yee’s mocking of elderly S’porean tell us about the values of NTUC Income, PA, and PAP?

What does Ms Jean Ang Yee Mei Lin tell us of the values of NTUC Income, PA, PAP and Hri Kumar?
If Tan Tock Seng Hospital was right to fire Roy Ngerng* for breach of its values, err what does the continued silence and inaction of NTUC Income PA, PAP and Hri Kumar* tell us of their values when someone associated with them mocks an elderly sick lady.

Admin’s Note: We feel deeply disappointed with people who accept sponsorships likely without proper research (this is just a speculation and we do not imply that any of the blog sites mentioned here have done it). At the same time, we are happy that some popular bloggers are wise in deciding which sponsorships to take. We hope to consolidate the reviews so far and to make it easier for people to access to the reviews.

Don’t be fooled ladies via fake call and a fake promise

Final update:
I received a phone call from BottomSlim’s Jurong branch manager, Karen, this evening regarding the dispute. According to her, TMC and CLT both uses electric pulsation thus the misunderstanding. Well, different modes of electric pulsation warrants a different price. However, she was polite throughout the conversation and confirmed that based on the treatments I received on my first visit, it really costs $900 if ala-carte. She offered additional treatments as compensation on top of personal service from her on my visit this Sunday. I can’t dispute that this was handled rather poorly by the consultant but Karen resolved it so simply. I’m not sure whether I will recommend this to my peers, but this has really taught me a great lesson. Thank you all for following my encounter.

My email to AllDealsAsia:
I have recently purchased a voucher from AllDealsAsia “New Year Special: 10 Slimming Treatments for Tummy and Thighs + Wonder-Tight Butt Treatments + New Year Welcome Pack (Worth $1888) 20 Slimming Treatments Option Available”, my voucher number is Voucher No: 141601-880227.
Please bear with me.
I bought the voucher on 9th Jan 2013, and booked my first appointment with BottomSlim on the same day 9th Jan 2013, evening 7:30pm. I refer to the fine print on the voucher that reads 120mins in duration inclusive of body analysis. I expected 20 sessions of 120 mins treatment but was quickly corrected by my BottomSlim consultant that 20 sessions actually means 20 treatments of which 10 treatments can be completed in a single visit and that 20 sessions I bought can be completed within 2 visits.
Not just that, I was talked into signing a package which costs roughly $934.58. The consultant highlighted problem areas and drafted it on a blank piece of paper which I remember to have treatments on my stomach and hips, that I will cover later. I was unwilling to pay $934.58 therefore rejected the offer unless there was a 24 months installment plan available. The consultant initially told me that POSB only allowed 3, 6 and 12 months installment plan therefore I did not want to sign. The consultant left the room and came back with a confirmation that 24 months was available and that she checked with the bank before confirming with me that there was a 24 months installment plan available.
I was told to call up the bank the next day on 10th Jan 2013 to change payment of the package into a preferred payment plan of 24 months which the consultant also confirmed that many other clients have done so previously. So I went ahead with the treatments only to realize that the technology they have attached me to, did not include tummy and hips. The consultant then told me she did not include tummy and hips treatment on the package I signed up for. Knowing so, she went ahead to offer me 10 sessions of tummy and hips treatment at an additional $51.10. By the time I agreed, my first treatment with BottomSlim was already over and I still had 10 sessions of tummy and hips plus 9 sessions of other treatments I paid for. That sums my total package to $985.68 but was written as $1000 on my payment slip.
I called the bank on 10th Jan 2013 noon, only to find out that 24 months installment plan was not available. Immediately, I called BottomSlim and the consultant reconfirmed that she has called the bank on 9th Jan 2013 to confirm there was 24 months installment plan available. I then demanded a cancellation and a refund of the remaining treatments I have paid for. She coaxed me by saying that a monthly installment of $70+ is still affordable and reasonable. And I refused to listen. Of which, she said I would have to pay for the first treatment I received on based on ala-carte prices which actually sums up to $900, as said by the consultant over the phone. Again, I told her I will report this to CASE and she told me that previous clients have tried reporting to CASE and lost.
Upset and furious, I went online to research on reviews of past experiences by women who have tried BottomSlim. One of the reviews I read, mentioned the term “TMC” which represents a treatment that attaches electric nodes to your muscles to shock them. I got even more confused as “CLT” was what was written on my payment slip but the technology of treatment I received was exactly as described by the forumer as “TMC”.
By the time I realized what had happened, I called POSB immediately to cancel the payment made to BottomSlim. However, the transaction had already been transferred to BottomSlim. I called BottomSlim to demand an explanation on what TMC and CLT have in common and their differences and uses. They have yet to get back to me on that.
BottomSlim has misrepresented POSB and has tarnished the name of AllDealsAsia.
I bought and entrusted my wellbeing in this treatment because I believed in AllDealsAsia. This has caused me a lot of unnecessary stress and unhappiness. My fiance and I have decided to bring this to CASE and make a police report as soon as BottomSlim gets back to me.
I would appreciate if you would take action and drop BottomSlim as one of your clients on AllDealsAsia and prevent more victims to fall into the trap. Such unethical business behavior should be discouraged.
Thank you very much for taking time to read my complaint. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions. I am reachable at xxxxxxxx (Mobile).
Warmest regards,
Carol

Tokyo Bust Express

Tokyo Bust Express

friend purchased a deal from Tokyo Bust after hearing a good review from another friend who signed on a package with them. We have gotten permission to have this post written on her behalf.

So dear friend made an appointment at Ngee Ann City. Pardon us for our ignorance for we had an assumption that all beauty parlors rich enough to rent a space at Ngee Ann City come with class and good ambiance. Lo and behold, dear friend almost dropped her glasses when she stepped into the treatment room.

We checked out the entrance of the parlor and it looks expectedly “atas” and glam. Since we aren’t members, we can’t get a glimpse of the inside. As vividly as possible, dear friend describe the inner design of the room as claustrophobic, run down and dirty.

In the room, is a wooden cabinet to keep customers’ clothes. In the cabinet is also a stack of unused towels and quilts. And on the stack of linens is where the bags are placed. Imagine the number of bags that were placed on the towels before it has been used to lay on the bed for customers to lie on. On the bed is a quilt with no quilt cover. (tsk tsk)

Other than the cabinet, is a small ikea-purchased lamp (on the floor!) and the bed. The lamp is tastelessly placed on the floor illuminating the footwear placed beside it.

Yes, the room is small. there is no moving space. To open the door, the bed has to be pushed right to the opposite wall.

That’s just the ambiance. Now let’s talk about the service which made dear friend extremely mad. For the first appointment, she waited a good 1.5 hours before anything starts. Reason given was that the customer service who made the appointment wasn’t station at the parlor itself.

What about the package?
6 bust maximising session is plain BULLSH*T. According to the consultant, 1 session = scrub, 1 session = opening up pores, 1 session = normal massage, 1 session = oil application….you get the drift. In another word, you only get 1 session which constitutes of 6 items. 1 + 1 = 2 sessions. As all hard selling consultants, the “bust maximising sessions” only maximise the name not your bust, unfortunately. Neither did she get any Bust-up Kit. According to the consultants, they are equally useless.

Thinking of trying out? Forget it, we say. Either you purchase the original package or start accepting your boobs. The groupons are nothing but gimmicks.

Cobankiat urged to respect the strikers’ picket, previous agreement with union

Cobankiat urged to respect the strikers’ picket, previous agreement with union

MANILA – Johnny Cobankiat, millionaire owner of huge hardware supplier Co Ban Kiat Hardware Inc., which reneged on its agreement with the workers’ union, recently received a setback. After the workers’ union relaunched their strike in front of its biggest warehouse in Parañaque City, Cobankiat asked the Regional Trial Court to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) and a writ of preliminary injunction.
The said petition for preliminary injunction asked the court to restrain the workers from continuing to hold their strike, direct the workers to pay P1 million in damages, and instruct the Southern Police District and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit to implement the TRO and injunction.
But last Wednesday, the court dismissed Cobankiat’s request, saying the court has no jurisdiction over labor disputes. During the hearing, the Parañaque RTC judge reportedly told the company lawyer that if it has complaints over the labor department’s pace in resolving the dispute, the company could ask the court to subpoena the labor department’s representatives instead.
In a statement, the labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno said the Co Ban Kiat’s request is “a desperate attempt to disperse the strike of workers asserting their demands.”
“Johnny Cobankiat is an example of a cruel, profit-greedy capitalist. His desperation to crush the workers’ strike so he can resume his unhampered raking of millions, by exploiting workers, has led him to use deception, harassment, and intimidation with the help of the government,” said Elmer “Bong” Labog, KMU chairman.
Despite the court dismissal of Co ban Kiat’s request for a TRO, the management lawyer reportedly attempted to escort some drivers and other men into the hardware to get some goods last May 31, the ninth day of their strike.
