Girl, 13, dies from the flu days before her 14th birthday and an unvaccinated four-year-old goes blind during one of the worst virus seasons for decades that’s killed 32 children
A four-year-old girl in Iowa who was not vaccinated for the flu has been left blind after suffering a severe bout of the virus that left her in the intensive care unit for two weeks.
Jade DeLucia, of Iowa City, did not receive a flu shot this season but caught the virus a few days before Christmas and within a matter of days the infection triggered a seizure and left her unresponsive in the hospital.
She contracted influenza B, a strain of the flu that affects children more than adults and has been spreading this season.
This year’s child flu death toll in the US has risen to 32, according to the CDC. Among those deaths, 21 were from the influenza B virus.
The blue-state exodus gains momentum
Nine years ago I published a piece that asserted, Voters around the country are concluding its better to be red than dead, applying almost the exact opposite meaning to an old phrase referring to communism. New Census Bureau figures appear to confirm my prediction mostly.
My point was that many voters were, and are, increasingly fed up with the high taxes, heavy regulations and increasing social wokeness that have come to characterize most blue states i.e., those dominated by liberal politicians and policies.
I argued that voters wanting to live in a business-friendly, fiscally responsible state that minimizes its tax burden would either vote out the liberals destroying their states economy or flee to a red state. The latest Census Bureau report highlights the red-state shift.
According to an Election Data Services analysis of the Census Bureau report, The population projections point toward a ten [congressional] seat change over 17 states across the nation by year 2020.

‘Death to liars!’ Iranian protesters turn against regime and demand the Ayatollah RESIGN
Iranians have gathered in the streets of Tehran to demand the resignation of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei after the regime admitted it had mistakenly shot down a passenger plane.
Angry crowds gathered on Saturday night in at least four locations in Tehran, chanting ‘death to liars’ and calling for the country’s supreme leader to step down over the tragic military blunder, video from the scene shows.
What began as mournful vigils for Iranian lives lost on the flight quickly turned to outrage and protest against the regime, and riot police quickly cracked down, firing tear gas into the crowd.
‘Death to the Islamic Republic’ protesters chanted, as the regime’s paramilitary security force allegedly used ambulances to sneak heavily armed paramilitary police into the middle of crowds to disperse the demonstration.
Ukrainian Airlines Flight 752 was carrying 176 people, at least 130 of them Iranian citizens, when it was shot down by hapless Iranian Revolutionary Guard air defense forces shortly after taking off from Tehran on January 8.
Wages Soar Fastest among Those with the Least
Its an article of liberal faith: Thanks to President Donald Trumps $1.5 trillion Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the ‘Prosecco’ is popping on Wall Street, while the unsold Pepsi gathers dust on Main Street, where Americans are too poor to buy soft drinks.
Workers are delivering more, and theyre getting a lot less, former vice president Joe Biden told the Brookings Institution last summer. Theres no correlation now between productivity and wages.
Americans are sick and tired of the income and wealth inequality that sees the rich getting much richer, Senator Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) told CapitalAndMain.com last month.
Wages have largely stagnated, the campaign website of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) complains, while fundamental changes in our economy have left millions of working families hanging on by their fingernails.
These grim, lachrymose myths cannot mask this incredibly upbeat fact: The sparkling wine is flowing on Wall and Main streets, and its running more rapidly on Main, where take-home pay is expanding the most among those with the least.
Never mind the liberal lies. Hard data reveal this reality. The Atlanta Federal Reserve Banks monthly Wage Growth Tracker shows that Americans are making more money, particularly those who have been forgotten for decades.

CNN Pays $76 Million in Settlement with National Labor Relations Board
CNN has agreed to shell out $76 million in a back pay case that involved union employees, making it the largest monetary settlement in the history of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Variety reported that the labor dispute began in 2003 when the media company fired a group of unionized subcontractors working as technicians and in other support roles for Team Video Services before hiring non-union employees to replace those workers.
The action sparked a litigation war between the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians and Communications Workers of America that has lasted more than a decade.
More than 300 people will take part in the settlement. The NLRB, a federal agency that allows employees to unionize in the workplace, said in a statement that $76 million is more than what the agency typically sees in a back pay enforcement case.
Editor’s note: Last week was a bad week for CNN. They settled two cases last week.

Assassination of Soleimani a rude reminder to Kim Jong Un not to meet Trump again
The Trump administration claimed Iranian general Qasem Soleimani was
planning “imminent attacks” on US interests when it assassinated him.
That lie was just destroyed, but not before countless corporate media
outlets transmitted it to the public.
