Appeals court rules Trump can use nearly $4 billion in military funds for border wall

A federal appeals court late Wednesday ruled the Trump Administration can use nearly $4 billion in military funds for construction of the presidents long-promised border wall.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit reversed an earlier decision by El Paso-based U.S. District Judge David Briones that blocked the spending. The latest decision allows the funds to be spent while the case plays out in its appeal.

The $3.6 billion had been earmarked by the Trump administration for construction of 11 barriers on the southern border, CNN reported Wednesday. The original lawsuit was filed by El Paso County and the Border Network for Human Rights, an El Paso-based advocacy group. The Trump administration asked the appeals court to consider the matter on Dec. 16.

Vermont bill would ban cellphone use for anyone under 21

MONTPELIER, Vt. A bill seeking to ban the use of cellphones for anyone under the age of 21 was introduced by a Democratic state senator in Vermont this week.

The bill, introduced to the Judiciary Committee by Sen. John Rodgers, would make the possession of a cellphone punishable by up to one year in prison, a $1,000 fine, or both.

Rodgers writes within the proposal that cellphones are a large factor in teenage driving deaths and can lead to bullying and radicalization.

“In light of the dangerous and life-threatening consequences of cellphone use by young people, it is clear that persons under 21 years of age are not developmentally mature enough to safely possess them,” the bill reads. “just as the General Assembly has concluded that persons under 21 years of age are not mature enough to possess firearms, smoke cigarettes or consume alcohol.”

In an interview with the Times Argus Wednesday, Rodgers said the bill was introduced to raise conversation, and he does not expect it to pass.

A Viewer Writes: Salisbury Mayor Jake Day Posts About Airport

Jake Day makes a post on his FB page last Monday about the Salisbury Wicomico County Airport making it sound like it’s his Airport. No Jake Day that Airport is Wicomico County’s Airport and not yours or the City of Salisbury’s. It’s no where even close to the City limits. His blind followers think it’s his and even asks him questions. The funny thing is he didn’t know the answers and ignored his followers.

Publishers Notes: Perhaps Jake should stroke Wicomico County a check for $17,000,000.00 for 1/2 of the cost of the new runway going in! After all Jake, you IMPLY the City is involved but has NEVER ponied up a dime to financially support the airport.

On a side note, I heard his wife Liz will likely get PROBATION and get this, she may even get her job back! Mike Lewis really screwed the public on this one with those BS charges.
