House to vote on War Powers resolution limiting Trump on Iran; Pelosi facing mounting impeachment pressure

Good morning and welcome to Fox News First. Here’s what you need to know as you start your day …

House to vote on War Powers resolution limiting Trump’s actions as US, Iran back away from military conflict
Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced plans for the House to vote Thursday on a War Powers Resolution that aims to limit President Trumps military action toward Iran, saying Democrats have serious, urgent concerns about the administrations decision to engage in hostilities against Iran and about its lack of strategy moving forward.

The Democrat-authored resolution would reassert congressional authority and rebuke Trumps decision last week to take out Irans top general, Gen. Qassem Soleimani, in an airstrike without their consent. Republican leadership aides argued to Fox News that the proposed War Powers Resolution is toothless, saying it has NO chance of becoming law.

The Truth About Lilac Bushes

I had an article idea for you, Chris Orange said. Think about the old farmhouses youve seen, and how often you see lilac bushes.

Chris Orange is the park manager of the Grand Kankakee Marsh County Park in Lake County, Indiana. As sharp as a new razor and a frequent inspiration for articles on this site, Chris is a walking file cabinet of Indiana lore. Also, hes the brother of the co-founder.

Yes, I had seen lilac bushes frequently on the site of old farmhouses. I thought of several I had seen in a line, usually towards the back of the property. Ill bite. I assumed it was decorative, I said.

Chris shook his head. Trust me, they didnt spend much time a hundred years ago bothering with landscaping. Thats a pretty recent thing. Lilac bushes

SEAL who killed bin Laden asks what Tehran and Hiroshima have in common

The Navy SEAL who claims to have shot and killed Osama bin Laden asked what Tehran and Hiroshima have in common hours after Iran fired dozens of ballistic missiles at two military bases housing American forces in Iraq.

“Wanna know what Tehran and Hiroshima have in common?” tweeted Robert J. O’Neill late Tuesday night. “Nothing yet.”

On Aug. 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb nicknamed “Little Boy” on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, instantly killing an estimated 100,000 people.

Justin Trudeau vows to ‘get answers’ after Ukrainian passenger jet crash in Iran that killed 176, including 63 Canadians, as Tehran refuses to hand over jet’s black box

Justin Trudeau has today vowed to get answers after 176 people including 63 Canadians died in a plane crash near Tehran, with Iran blaming an engine fire but refusing to hand over the recovered black boxes.

The Boeing 737 jet came down just minutes after take-off from Imam Khomeini International Airport early this morning, sparking fresh alarm in the Middle East hours after Iran launched missile strikes on US bases.

Three Britons and 63 Canadians were among the 168 passengers and nine crew on board the Ukrainian International Airlines flight to Kyiv. There were no survivors.

Today the Canadian PM offered his ‘deepest condolences’ to the victims’ families and vowed to ‘ensure that this crash is thoroughly investigated, and that Canadians’ questions are answered’. The US promised ‘complete co-operation’ with the probe.

Prosecutors demand disgraced national security advisor Mike Flynn is jailed for SIX MONTHS for being unrepentant about lying to the FBI

President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn deserves up to six months behind bars, the Justice Department said Tuesday, reversing its earlier position that he was entitled to avoid prison time because of his extensive cooperation with prosecutors.

The government’s sentencing memo is a sharp rebuke to Flynn’s new legal team, which for months has attacked special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation and accused prosecutors of withholding information that they said was favorable to their client.

A judge rejected those arguments last month.
