SIR Rod Stewart serenades a British couple whose wedding day was almost ruined by the Thomas Cook collapse.
Andrew and Sharon Aitchison were due to travel to Las Vegas when the firm went bust. Delta Airlines and Caesars Palace saw their story and stepped in — with a few added surprises.
The groom, from Liverpool, said: “So Rod Stewart turned up at our wedding and sang to my wife! I can’t believe what has happened in the last week and this has just topped it off.”
Rod serenaded the happy couple with a version of Have I Told you Lately.
After the performance, the singer invited the happy couple to come and watch his show.
The couple’s wedding plans had been in tatters after spending £9,000 on flights with Thomas Cook, but Caesars Palace and Delta Airlines stepped in to ensure the ceremony could go ahead.
They were also met by a limousine and upgraded to a penthouse suite at the Las Vegas hotel.
The collapse of Thomas Cook left 150,000 holidaymakers stranded, with a fleet of chartered aircraft used to bring them back from around 53 destinations across 17 countries.
