Motherwell South Africa October 7 2019
A cash-in-transit security guard was fatally shot while another was wounded during a heist at Boxer Superstores in Motherwell on Thursday.
The robbers fled with an empty cash box after ambushing three guards outside the store at about 1pm.
According to police, several shots were fired in the centre’s carpark during the heist.
The incident led to one guard being shot in the head at point-blank range while he was exiting the ATM cubicle.
Police said the three guards were at the centre to top up a Capitec Bank ATM when the heist happened.
Police spokesperson Captain Johan Rheeder said: “It is unclear as to who was shooting but shots were fired.
“At this stage it appears that the guards were leaving the ATM when five suspects confronted them.
“The guard with the cash box was shot in the head and his firearm stolen.
“The guard walking with him was shot in the arm. The other guard stayed in the vehicle until the suspects fled.
“The suspects fled with the cash box and appear to have split in several directions.
“A Datsun Go, Mazda 323 and a Quantum minibus were used as getaway vehicles.”
Rheeder said it was still unknown whether the vehicles were hijacked in the carpark or if the suspects arrived in them.
“The Datsun Go and the Quantum were recovered abandoned shortly after the incident,” he said.
By 3pm, the Mazda had been found by police abandoned in Kaulela Road, KwaMagxaki.
Only hours before, at about 9am, a clothing store in Main Road, Kirkwood, was robbed.
Police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart said it was alleged that two suspects, one armed with a firearm, entered the business and threatened the store workers.
The workers were tied up and the suspects allegedly took an undisclosed sum of cash from a safe as well as several cellphones from the store.
“The suspects then jumped into a white Toyota Corolla, where two other people were waiting, and sped away.”
She said police were following up on leads.

Officer shoots, kills man outside Jacksonville Walmart privateofficer.org

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. October 7 2019– A Jacksonville police officer shot and killed a man outside a Northside on Walmart Friday night after the man sprayed the officer in the face, according to JSO.
Officers responded to a disturbance inside the Walmart at the River City Marketplace around 10:40 p.m.
Assistant Chief T.K. Waters said a man inside the store was making employees uncomfortable. The man, who police said was seen with a weapon, was asked to leave but refused.
When the man eventually went outside the Walmart, Jacksonville sheriff’s officer S. Dorcelian approached him.
Waters said the man crouched down as if he was hiding something, keeping one hand out of the officer’s view. The man then sprayed Dorcelian in the face with an unknown substance, according to JSO.
Dorcelian fired three shots and the man died at the scene. Waters said Dorcelian has been with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for three years and this was the first time he has ever shot a suspect.
Dorcelian was placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure after all police shootings. The suspect’s name has not been released.
News4Jax crime and safety expert, Ken Jefferson agrees with the use of deadly force taken by the officer in this case because of the initial reports that the man was seen with a weapon and because the man sprayed the officer.
“He protected himself. He protected others, and he did the right thing,” Jefferson said. “You’ve got to be either bold and brazen or stupid to spray someone, (especially) a uniformed officer there answering a call. To do that, you put your life in jeopardy.”
Jefferson said Dorcelian responded as he was trained.
“This sounds like a justifiable shooting simply because who knows what was in that spray can? It could’ve temporarily blinded him, given him an opportunity to take that officer’s weapon and use a weapon against him,” Jefferson said.”You shoot until the threat is stopped.”
Walmart released the following statement to News4Jax regarding the incident:
“We are working with law enforcement as part of an ongoing investigation. We have processes designed to assess the amount of security we use at stores.” Robyn Babbitt Director, Walmart corporate communication.

Court allows Santa Anita Race Track security to block protesters privateofficer.org

Animal rights activists protested before the reopening of racing at the embattled Santa Anita Race Track over the summer..

ARCADIA, CA October 7 2019 — Animal-rights advocates protesting against horse racing at Santa Anita Race Track lost a round in court Thursday when their request to protest in non-ticketed areas was denied, Thursday. Protesters were allowed space to gather at the park, just outside of gate 5, so that they can express their views in a public setting.
A non-jury trial on the same issues will be held later, but the judge has yet to set a date.
Since December of 2018, 32 racehorses have suffered life-ending injuries inside the Santa Anita Race Track facility. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Fruin said that Santa Anita Park and Race Track “has a legitimate reason both to maintain guest safety, and to facilitate foot traffic.” Matthew Strugar, attorney for the protesters, disagreed. In his opening remarks, Strugar stated that the protesters wanted to state their case where race horses died, and “not out front of the park.” Strugar’s clients sought the preliminary injunction because they plan to be present during the Breeders’ Cup on Nov. 1-2.
Attorney Emily Evitt — who represents the Stronach Group, which owns several racetracks, including Santa Anita — argued her clients have a “fundamental right to exclude” protesters from their property. She added that the group that demonstrated against the animal deaths on March 3 was “extremely disruptful” to traffic.
In a complaint filed May 30 against Stronach, eight protesters trying to pass out leaflets in the parking lot and public walkways outside of the track on March 3 were “battered and imprisoned” by track security guards.
Dina Kourda, a ninth plaintiff, contacted Santa Anita Park representatives to request information on how she could lawfully hand out leaflets promoting a plant-based diet. Kourda says she was “denied any details from the park’s community services office,” the suit states.
Along with injunctive relief, the suit seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
During the March protests, the protesters carried megaphones and posterboard signs with slogans that denounced the park. One person wore a body camera-type video-recording device, the suit states.
Two groups of security guards blocked the plaintiffs as they tried to walk to the admissions area, the suit states. They did not try to prevent access to other members of the public.
A park employee, not in uniform, grabbed one plaintiff by one arm and removed her camera. He then “threw it to the ground, and another guard handcuffed her,” the suit states.
The same two employees ripped a sign from another plaintiff who also was handcuffed, the suit states. Three plaintiffs who tried to record what was happening to their two colleagues were blocked from doing so by guards using their hands and bodies, the suit states.
Three plaintiffs were later cited by Arcadia police for alleged trespassing, but no charges were filed, the suit states.

Education, solving one problem but creating more problems

‘I said that the underlying problem is that the education system aims
to pick the top students for the top secondary school and later for
scholarships to prestigious overseas universities.

If the reward is set at a high level, parents will continue to do the

Can’t believe that this annual haze hazard is so difficult to solve. Every year the ministers would be pulling their hair trying to talk to one another to keep the haze at bay but failed miserably. No one seems to have any clue about how to kill this problem once for all, or at least cut down the severity. Post-surgery Taylor Swift nearly has meltdown over a banana in video her mom recorded

Post-surgery Taylor Swift nearly has meltdown over a banana in video her mom recorded

The post-surgery haze is real, except rarely do average people have their vulnerable moment shared with millions of people.
Yet, thanks to her mom Andrea Swift, we’ve all been gifted a video of the superstar singer nearly reaching an emotional breaking point over a banana after having laser eye surgery. The never-before-seen video was shared during Swift’s visit to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
In it, Swift begins to crack because she realizes she mistakenly broke off a banana from a bunch that she did not intend to pick.
Lucky for Swift, mom swoops in to talk some sense into her and says she will eat the offending wrong banana. (Thank goodness for moms, right?)
In another shot, Swift is seen happily munching on her snack when her mom tells her not to fall asleep while eating.
“I’m not asleep,” Swift mumbles. “My mind is alive.”
Fallon was seemingly apologetic after showing the video.
“Don’t be mad at me,” he pleaded.
A smiling Swift simply laughed: “Oh my God. That’s on television.”
Yes, it was Taylor. And it was glorious.
